Dental Care for Kids in Ajman

Most parents want to know the same things: when to start, what’s normal for baby teeth, and whether it will hurt. Here’s what we tell them. If you’re still unsure, we’re happy to talk it through before you book.

When should my child first see a dentist?

When the first tooth comes in, or by their first birthday. We check how the teeth are coming in and show you how to clean them.

Do we need check-ups if nothing hurts?

Yes. Regular visits keep baby teeth healthy and help us catch small problems early.

How do I keep cavities away?

We can put a thin coating on the back teeth to protect them, and use a fluoride treatment to make teeth stronger.

My child has a cavity in a baby tooth. Does it need treatment?

Yes. Baby teeth hold the space for adult teeth, so they're worth looking after.

Thumb sucking or crooked teeth?

We check how your child's teeth are growing and tell you if they should see a braces dentist (orthodontist). See Orthodontic Treatment.

Questions Our Patients Often Ask

When should my child first see a dentist?

When the first tooth comes in, or by their first birthday.

Do baby teeth need fillings if they will fall out?

Yes, if there’s a cavity. A cavity can cause pain and infection, and baby teeth hold the space for adult teeth.

My child is scared of the dentist. What can I do?

Tell them we’ll look at their teeth and that check-ups don’t usually hurt. We go slowly, and you can stay with them.

How often should my child have a check-up?

Usually every six months. We’ll tell you what’s right for your child.

Is thumb sucking a problem?

Not usually when children are small. If it carries on when the adult teeth start to come in, it can change how the teeth sit. We check this at visits.

Can a baby bottle or sugary drinks damage teeth?

Yes. Sugar sitting on teeth, especially from bottles or drinks at night, can cause cavities. We’ll show you how to protect your child’s teeth.

Do children need X-rays?

Only when needed. We tell you why before we take one.

What is a pediatric dentist?

A dentist who looks after children’s teeth. You may also see it spelled paediatric, or the word pedodontist.

How much does a visit cost?

We look at your child’s teeth first, then tell you the cost.
